The short answer
Zero is Nordic Pectin’s separate pectin system for developing sugar-free finished gummies, with no sugar alcohols in the base. A “sugars-free” claim is only allowed when the finished product contains no more than 0.5 g sugars per 100 g, under EU Regulation 1924/2006 — the base alone does not qualify a pack claim.
What Zero is
Zero is a pectin system kept separate from Classic and Fiber, so the sugar-free development story stays clear. There are no sugar alcohols in the base and no stevia in current stock. Five stock flavours are available: Unflavored, Blueberry, Mango, Pineapple and Watermelon.
Why the finished product decides the claim
Your recipe, any coating, serving size and market all affect whether a claim is allowed. Sanding sugar or sour sugar finishes add sugars, so a wax finish is recommended for Zero.
- Sugars-free: no more than 0.5 g sugars per 100 g or 100 ml.
- Low sugar: no more than 5 g sugars per 100 g of solids.
- No added sugars: no added mono- or disaccharides or other food used for its sweetening properties.
Plan the sample
Request Zero samples with up to four flavours, and tell us your target market and finish. Your labelling team should confirm the final claim for each market.
Sugar-free and fibre wording applies to the finished product, not automatically to the base. Verify each formulation and market with your labelling team. Sugars-free claims require the finished product to meet EU Regulation 1924/2006 (≤ 0.5 g sugars per 100 g or 100 ml).
